Larnaca Medieval Fort was built in the late 12th century AD by the Byzantines to protect the harbour of Larnaca, and another portion was later added on by King James I of Britain to make it a castle. It then became the Larnaca Medieval Castle.
It was used as a prison by the British and the western chamber was used for the execution of prisoners until 1948. It now has a Medieval Museum on the second floor.
